At Taybur we recently wrapped up a technically complex AHU upgrade project at lakeside energy for waste – The task? Replace an outdated Fläkt Woods air handling unit with a high-performance Systemair unit equipped with integrated DX cooling—all within a tight plantroom space and while maintaining strict safety and operational standards.
This project serves as a great example of how detailed planning, close collaboration, and skilled execution can come together to deliver real value for our clients.
The Challenge
The existing Fläkt Woods AHU was coming to the end of its serviceable life. Performance had declined, maintenance costs were rising, and energy efficiency was no longer meeting modern expectations. Replacing it, however, was no simple task.
The plantroom had extremely restricted access, ruling out a like-for-like unit swap. We needed a solution that would not only perform better but also fit the physical constraints of the space—and do so with minimal disruption to ongoing site operations.
Our Solution
Working closely with our supply chain partners, we proposed a Systemair AHU delivered in flat-pack form. This allowed us to transport components into the plantroom piece by piece and rebuild the unit entirely on-site.
Here’s what the full scope of work included:
Safe decommissioning and removal of the existing Fläkt Woods unit
Delivery and full on-site assembly of the Systemair AHU, tailored to the space restrictions
Modifications to the existing ductwork to accommodate the new unit
Full ductwork cleaning across five floors to improve air quality and system performance
System rebalancing and commissioning to ensure optimal airflow and cooling efficiency
Upgrades to the electrical infrastructure to support the new installation
The Result
The newly installed AHU now serves all office areas within the building. It’s delivering far better climate control, significantly improved energy efficiency, and a noticeable uplift in comfort for staff on-site.
The DX cooling system integrated into the new unit provides reliable and responsive cooling performance, particularly important during peak demand periods.
